Praying for the State of California – Feb 20-27th

February 21, 2012
Dear Triumphant Ones:

Just a reminder that this next week, we here in California, are blessed to be the national focus of prayer and declaration for our great State.  Every state in our nation will be praying next week for California.  There will be many gatherings across the state of California where we as the body of Christ can come together and worship, declare and decree God’s purposes over our state.  Our goal is to advance our nation toward righteousness beginning with California.  We want to see Godly leaders and laws put in place.  Where there is immorality we want to see Godly virtue.  Where there is corruption we want to see leadership above reproach.  We want to promote and sustain a Biblical worldview among the leaders of America and establish a Republic that is built upon and perpetuates Biblical values.

To accomplish this, we need to mobilize a well-informed army of impassioned voices and activists to bear up the nation in prayer.

The following is a reminder of the prayer gathering we are hosting here in the Napa Valley, for any and all who want to come together and call forth God’s covenant promises for California.  Following that, is also a list of some of the different sites in California where worship and prayer gatherings will take place this next week.  Feel free to pass these sites on to those you know in California so they can join in.

Please go to www.rpnca.org for more info on how to pray for the State of California.

We hope you will join us next Thursday, February 23 at 7pm at The Rock Worship Center.

Blessings to you, Bea

2012 FASTFORWARD CAMPAIGN

Prayer for the State of California

February 23, 2012 – 7pm * The Rock Worship Center

Vision: Advancing the Nation Toward Righteousness

On Monday, January 2, 2012, the United States Reformation Prayer Network, with Cindy Jacobs, launched its FastForward Campaign - a fasting and prayer initiative with the purpose of advancing our nation toward righteousness.

Our foundational scripture for this initiative is Nehemiah 6:15-16, which tells of the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem in 52 days. Likewise, we are engaging in a year-long intercessory campaign to rebuild the walls of righteousness around our own hearts, around each state and around the nation, and then move forward into our God-given destiny.

We want to see Godly leaders and laws put in place.

Where there is immorality we want to see Godly virtue.

Where there is corruption we want to see leadership above reproach.

We want to promote and sustain a Biblical worldview among the leaders of America and

establish a Republic that is built upon and perpetuates Biblical values.

To accomplish this, we need to mobilize a well-informed army of impassioned voices and

activists to bear up the nation in prayer, thus, the FastForward Campaign.

During 2012 we will PRAY State-by-State for our Nation.

Beginning February 20 – 26, 2012 the nation will be praying for the State of California.

As part of that week of prayer we will be hosting different worship and prayer gatherings throughout the state.

One of those gatherings will be in Napa on February 23, 2012 at 7p.m.

Please visit www.usrpn.org and/or www.rpnca.org for more info on the FastForward campaign and prayer points for praying for the State of California.

SUTTER COUNTY

Sutter County is a located along the Sacramento River in the Central Valley north of California’s state capital Sacramento. The California State Legislature incorporated Sutter County on 18 February 1850, which originally included parts of Colusa and Placer Counties. The current boundaries were established in 1857.  The county seat is Yuba City.

History

Sutter County was one of the original counties of California, created in 1850 at the time of statehood. Parts of the county were given to Placer County in 1852.

Sutter County is named after one of the state’s more engaging and complex historical personalities, and an agricultural visionary.  John Agustus Sutter, a German native born to Swiss parents, was one of the first to recognize the Sacramento Valley for its potential as an agricultural empire, and his Hock Farm, established in 1841 on the Feather River just south of present-day Yuba City, was the site of the valley’s first large agricultural enterprise.

Sutter County is the birthplace (Yuba City, 1858) of John Joseph Montgomery, who was the first American to successfully pilot a heavier than air craft, 20 years before the Wright Brothers, and who held the first patent for an “aeroplane.”

In the 1890s Sutter County was one of the two prohibition counties in California; the other was Riverside County. Both outlawed saloons and sale or consumption of alcohol in public

Prior to1840, the land now known as Sutter County was the home of the Maidu Indians and under the control of the Mexican government. Members of various Spanish expeditions in search of mission sites, and fur trappers lured by the abundant wildlife, traveled through the county in 1841. John Sutter received a grant in 1841 from the Mexican government of about 50,000acres and named his settlement New Helvetia. He established a Hock farm near what is now Yuba City and by 1844 had nearly completed Sutter’s Fort. The United States seized control of California from Mexico in 1846 at the start of the Mexican War. Gold was discovered on the American river in 1848 by John Marshall, an employee of Sutter. This discovery eventually ended Sutter’s empire as thousands of gold seekers came to the area.

After the gold rush, the settlers developed the rich farmland and made use of the abundant water in Sutter County.

Several agricultural advancements were introduced in Sutter County:

In 1868 Edward Proper developed a strain of wheat which was known for its suitability to ship it over long distances.

In 1873, William and George Thompson developed the Thompson Seedless Grape, which is now the most widely planted table grape in the world.

In the 1880s two farmers, A.F. Abbott and Joseph Phillips, developed a strain of cling peach.

Today, Sutter County still has vast stretches of farmland, but now enjoys a diverse population and industry.

Sutter Buttes

Yuba City’s western horizon is dominated by the Sutter Buttes, renowned for being the “Smallest Mountain Range in the World.” The range is actually circular with a diameter of 10 miles and covers an area of about 75 square miles. The mountains are the remnants of a volcano that has been dormant for over a million years. South Butte, the highest peak is 2,117 feet above sea level. North Butte is 1,863 feet and West Butte is 1,685 feet above sea level.

Before modern levees and dams were built to contain the rivers, winter storms and spring run-off frequently turned the Sacramento Valley into an inland sea making the Sutter Buttes an island refuge for Indians, settlers and wildlife.

The Buttes have had many names over the years. The Maidu Indians called them “Histum Yani” which translates as, “Middle Mountains of the Valley” or “Spirit Mountain” … depending on the source. According to Maidu legend, after death, the spirits of their people rest in the Buttes. The Sutter Buttes of Northern California’s Sacramento Valley are where life began and where life ends. Playing a role in the traditional creation and afterlife stories of the Maidu and Wintun peoples, this small mountain range was a place of ritual for their ancestors, who once lived within view of the Buttes.

Arlene Ward, a member of the Mechoopda Maidu tribal council, says: “The Gold Rush and the events of the 1800s stripped us of our cultural identity and our resources. We lost who we were. Now in the 21st century, many people are taking up their identity as native peoples. The Sutter Buttes are significant to who we are and it may be that there are practices we want to revive and we will want to go to that power place — but it has to be there for us.”

The Maidu Indians who lived east of the Buttes called them Histum Yani, and the Wintun Indians, who lived to the west, knew them as Onolai-tol. Both names translate to “Middle Mountain.” Rising like an island in the center of the Sacramento Valley, the Sutter Buttes figure prominently in the creation stories of these two Native American tribes. The origin stories differ: sometimes the Sutter Buttes arose out of water or darkness or chaos, created by the falcon spirit animal. In other stories, the Buttes were where Earth Maker dwelled after having made the world.

But just as the Sutter Buttes have a place at the beginning of creation, they also play a vital role at the end of life. In many native traditions, the Buttes are a mysterious, powerful portal to the spirit world, a stopping point for the dead on their journey to the afterlife. In some traditions, the Buttes are so powerful land holy that stepping foot in them is forbidden except to healers and spiritual leaders.

Northern California native peoples, such as those belonging to the Maidu and Wintun nations, did not live within the Sutter Buttes but seasonally traveled to the foothills to gather acorns, hunt and perform rituals and ceremonies. Their home villages were along the Sacramento and Feather rivers, where the Buttes’ prominent peaks dominated the people’s spiritual and visual landscape

In the 1830s a malaria epidemic brought by European fur trappers killed an estimated two thirds of the area’s native population; later diseases such as smallpox and cholera killed even more. The California Gold Rush displaced ancestral villages when the establishment of towns pushed the few remaining Indians onto remote village sites. When California joined the United States in 1850, the state passed legislation allowing for Native Americas to be forced into “apprenticeships.” These events devastated what was once the densest population of native people in America. Finally, in 1862, many Sacramento Valley Indians were forcibly relocated to a reservation. Today, the closest Native American settlement is a Wintun Rancheria,” or tribal land, about 10 miles west of the Buttes.

Despite the devastation and displacement, the Sutter Buttes continued to be an important Gabriel Moraga, a Spaniard trying to locate possible mission sites, was the first European to see the Sutter Buttes in1806. Another Spaniard, Luis Arguello, led an expedition in 1817 to explore Northern California by water. He called the Buttes “Los Picachos” or the peaks. He also named the Feather River “El Rio de la Plumas”, because he saw many feathers of wild fowl floating on the water.

Other names for the Buttes were “Marysville Buttes”, “Sacramento Buttes”, and “Los Tres Picos.”They were finally named the “Sutter Buttes” in 1949.

 Foundations

1849 John Sutter deeded to himself, Pierson B Reading, Samuel Brannan and Henry Cheever the land for a new town. In the same month, Brannan, Reading and Cheever laid out what would become the Town, and later, City of Yuba City.

October 2, 1907. Fire destroyed most of Yuba City’s business district in the area of  Second St. and Bridge St. Efforts begin to incorporate the town as a city under the General law of California.

December 24, 1955. A levee break occurs in the Feather River in South Yuba City causing the entire area to flood. Coroner B.W. Ullrey reports that 38 victims are discovered.

1983 Money Magazine announces that Yuba City was voted the “worst” metropolitan area in The United States to live. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was voted the best.

1986 Yuba River levee breaks and floods near the town of Linda. Damages produce up to $500 million in claims.

January 10, 1995. A funnel cloud, possibly a tornado, rips through Yuba City and
collapses the roof of the YMCA building.

1997 Yuba City embraces for a possible levee break over the New Year Holiday. The levee breaks on the other side of the river in Yuba County near Arboga Rd.

Yuba City is known for its sizeable Sikh community

The Sikh population in the Yuba-Sutter Area has grown to be one of the largest in the United States and one of the largest Sikh populations outside of the Punjab state of India.

Each year on the first Sunday of November, Sikhs from the United States, Canada, India, the United Kingdom and throughout the world attend the Sikh parade in Yuba City, which commemorates the receipt by Sikhs of their Holy scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib, in 1708. The 4.5-mile-long parade features floats and a procession of parade participants. The 2005 parade drew an estimated 56,000 people while the 2007 parade was estimated to draw between 75,000 to 85,000 people of both Sikh and non-Sikh background In 2008, an estimated 80,000 people came out for the event which is now considered one of the largest gatherings in Northern California

Demographics

The 2010 United States Census reported that Sutter County had a population of 94,737. The racial makeup of Sutter County was 57,749 (61.0%) White, 1,919 (2.0%) African American, 1,365(1.4%) Native American, 13,663 (14.4%) Asian, 281 (0.3%) Pacific Islander, 14,463(15.3%) from other races, and 5,297 (5.6%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 27,251 persons (28.8%.)

Economics

Sutter County’s unemployment rate as of December 2011 was 19.3% as per the California Employment Development Department.  Many of the people in Sutter County work in the surrounding counties.  According to qucikfacts.census.gov the poverty level from 2006-2010 was 14.3%.

“Today, the availability of water, plus long, sunny growing seasons make Sutter County prime agricultural land. Over 93% of the County’s land is classified as “important farmland” making it one of the most intensively farmed counties in California. Agricultural products produced in Sutter County are exported throughout the world. The ten leading crops include: rice, beans, tomatoes, melons, alfalfa, hay, and tree crops of peaches, almonds, walnuts and plums. No one around here says ‘plums’ though. Yuba City is home to Sunsweet Growers Inc., the largest prune packing plant in the world, so we skip the middle stage and just call ‘em prunes.” From the article, Yuba City’s Agricultural Heritage at http://www.syix.com/yubacity/ycag.html

2012 Elections

On November 4, 2008, Sutter County voted 70.7 % for Proposition 8 which amended the California Constitution to ban same-sex marriages.

Sutter is a strongly Republican county in presidential and congressional elections. The last Democrat to win a majority in the county was Franklin Roosevelt in 1940. Sutter was part of California’s 2nd congressional district, which was held by Republican Wally Herger. Since the redistricting of California Sutter is now in California’s 3rdcongressional district. In the state legislature Sutter is presently in the 2ndAssembly district, which is held by Republican Jim Nielsen, however with the new redistricting maps Sutter has been redistricted into District 3.Republican Dan Logue presently over District 2 will be running for the assembly seat of District 3 in the 2012 election.

California’s New 3rd Congressional District

California’s New3rd Congressional District (CD3) is geographically vast, amazingly complex and overall intriguing. CD3 includes all or parts of Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Sacramento, Solano, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties and includes notable educational, air force bases, natural resources, water, agriculture, and transportation features.

For the new 3rd district map go to http://www.garamendi.org/cd3

This sprawling seat covers almost all of interior northern California with the main cities in the district being Chico, Redding, and Yuba City.

Although along time Republican stronghold, the demographics in some areas of the district are changing. The city of Chico in Butte County has some Democratic-leaning areas and the city of Weed in Siskiyou County holds a Democratic majority. Other counties within the current district boundary that are becoming more Democratic include Trinity County and Yuba County, which are both in a near-dead heat in registration.

Beginning with Conference Call – Monday February 13, 2012 – 6pm

Call in number    712-775-7100     Access Code 893924

*6 to mute/unmute      All normal phone charges apply.

During the call Jeff Taylor, San Benito County Representative, will share vital

prayer information then lead us in prayer.

Overview

San Benito County, located in the Coast Range Mountains of the U.S state of California south of San Jose, was created in 1874 from eastern Monterey County. Approximately 99% of San Benito County is unincorporated land, with approximately 95% of that land being used for agricultural purposes and includes Pinnacles National Monument, and the Clear Creek Management Area. With a population of only 55,269, San Benito County is home to only two incorporated cities, Hollister, the county seat, which includes nearly two-thirds of the county’s population, and San Juan Bautista where Mission San Bautista is located.  Aromas, Paicines, Tres Pinos, Ridgemark, Llanada, Bitterwater, and the abandoned New Idria mine and ghost town are all unincorporated or census designated communities.

San Benito County was formed from parts of Monterey County  1874.

The county is named after the San Benito Valley. Father Juan Crespi, in his expedition in 1772, named a small river in honor of San Benedicto (Saint Benedict), the patron saint of the married, and it is from the contraction of this name that the county took its name.

Location and Statistics

Because San Benito County shares borders on the north/northwest with Santa Cruz County and Santa Clara County, it is considered to be part of the San Francisco Bay Area. On the eastern side San Benito County is bordered by Merced and Fresno counties, sharing the Diablo Mountain Range with them. The Gavilan (Gabilan) and Santa Lucia Mountains and Salinas Valley are part of the western section. Several mountain peaks exceeding 3,000 feet are found in the area around Pinnacles National Monument which is located near the San Andreas Fault in the Gavilan Range. The San Benito River flows between the Gavilan and Santa Lucia Mountains forming the fertile San Benito Valley, also called the San Juan Valley.

PRAYER POINTS

Repent for bitterness and the desire for revenge.

·      Cleansing from any residual sin related to the treatment of the Indians who came to Mission San Juan Bautista.

·      San Benito refers to marriage. Pray for a new covenantal relationship with our heavenly Father, Jesus, our Bridegroom, and with each other in the Body of Christ.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY

Santa Barbara County is a county located in the southern portion of the U.S. state of

California, on the Pacific coast. As of 2010 the county had a population of 423,895. The county seat is Santa Barbara and the largest city is Santa Maria.   In 1848 Mexico signed a treaty ceding California to the United States. The territory became a state in 1850 when the population exploded to nearly100,000 with the discovery of gold. While California was still a territory, county boundaries were formed. The present county of Ventura was originally included within Santa Barbara County until 1873 when the Legislature separated the area into the present Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

ETYMOLOGY – ORIGIN OF COUNTY NAME

The Santa Barbara Channel received its name from Sebastian Vizcaino when he sailed over the channel waters in 1602. In 1782, Padre Junipero Serra dedicated a site near the channel for a presidio and on Dec. 4, 1786, he founded the nearby Mission Santa Barbara (Saint Barbara). The county derives its name from the mission.

HISTORY

The Santa Barbara County area, including the Northern Channel Islands, was first settled by Native Americans at least 13,000 years ago. For thousands of years, the area was home to the Chumash tribe of Native Americans, complex hunter gatherers who lived along the coast and in interior valleys leaving rock art in many locations including Painted Cave.

Europeans first contacted the Chumash in AD 1542, when three Spanish ships under the command of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo explored the area. The Santa Barbara Channel received its name from Spanish explorer Sebastian Vizcaino when he sailed over the channel waters in 1602; he entered the channel on

December 4, the day of the feast of Santa Barbara. Although Spanish ships associated with the Manila Galleon trade probably contacted the Chumash intermittently during this “protohistoric” period, the Spanish first colonized Santa Barbara County in AD 1769, when the DeAnza expedition explored the area and laid plans to establish a series of missions and presidios (forts). Mission Santa Barbara was founded on December 4, 1786 in what is now Santa Barbara. The county derives its name from the mission.

European contacts had devastating effects on the Chumash Indians, including a series of disease epidemics that drastically reduced Chumash population. The Chumash survived, however, and thousands of Chumash descendants still live in the Santa Barbara area or surrounding counties…

Santa Barbara County was one of the 26 original counties of California, formed in 1850 at the time of statehood. The county’s territory was divided to create Ventura County in 1872.

PRAYER POINTS – Please join us in making these declarations!

Government:  We declare, Father God, in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that those whom you have called and chosen to usher in Your government, would begin to rise up and take their place. That they would begin to hear, see, and know what that looks like in the Spirit. We speak your peace on them as they move forward and do what you have called them to do. In Jesus’ name we pray Amen.

Families:  Father, Your Word says that you will turn the hearts of the Fathers back to the children. Where families have been torn apart, hearts broken and divided, Lord you are the only one that can heal.  We pray for a shift and a change in the Fathers hearts that their eyes would be opened to your Truth that they would see their children through your eyes. We pray the violence and abuse would be arrested in the Spirit, expose the evil ways and bring justice and order. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered in the families of Santa Barbara County. Amen.

Education: We declare, Father God, in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that students and leaders would begin to discern the truth-Your Truth, from the lie satan has set over the educational system. That our children, grandchildren and the generations to come, in the public schools, private schools, Christian schools, and the home-schooled,  would live and speak what they have been taught through your Holy Scriptures. Release Your Holy Spirit boldness to them and to the educational leaders to rise and stand up against that false structure and cause a shift to allow for God’s government to operate. In Jesus’ name we pray Amen.

Church/Religion: Father I pray that we honor you in the Body of Christ.  Lord that we would truly learn to love, to love you first, to love each other, to honor the gift of God in every believer and to see the good in all people.  I Cor. 12:13 says we are baptized into one body and we drink from one Spirit.  Lord that the body would work together and not against one another that the walls that divide us through prejudice and pride would come down, we proclaim and decree that you are coming down and we are preparing the way for the Glory of the Lord. Lift up your heads, O gates. Ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come it!  We proclaim and decree over the body of Christ to Arise! Awake, Be Alert! Set a Standard of Godliness.  I say Let your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. In Jesus’ Mighty name! Amen.

Economy: We pray that our economy would be strong and business owners granted favor, wisdom and prosperity, give your people creative ideas, witty inventions to better their lives and society. We declare we shall be the head and not the tail and all we put our hands to shall be established and prosper. We bless the economy of the Central Coast and acknowledge that it is you who gives us the power to gain wealth.

Media: We declare, Father God, in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that as the world continues to use its media influence to cause your people to question You and what your doing, that they would seek Your wisdom above all else. That they may seek, speak and ask You while You may still be found.  In Jesus’ name we pray Amen.

Arts & Entertainment: We pray for the arts and entertainment field, especially Hollywood we declare whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise may these things be presented in the entertainment industry.

San Luis Obispo County:  San Luis Obispo County is a county located along the Pacific Ocean in the Central Coast of the  U.S. State of  California equidistant between  Los Angeles and the  San Francisco Bay area. San Luis Obispo County was one of the original counties of California, created in 1850 at the time of statehood. As of the 2010 census its population was 269,637. The county seat is San Louis Obispo, with about 46,000 residents.

Indigenous People:  The prehistory of San Luis Obispo County is strongly influenced by the Chumash people who had significant settlement here at least as early as the Millingstone Horizon, thousands of years

before the present age. Spanish invaders of California first seized Chumash lands in San Luis Obispo county at the relatively obscure Chumash town called Tixlini. This small village was not a Chumash religious or political center in 1772, but the Spanish pressed the local Chumash into building the

fifth colonial production facility (a ‘mission’) at Tixlini and renamed it San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, after a European religious leader named Luis (Lewis). Thereafter, the Spanish and Mexicans called the Stishni Chumash by the colonial name Obispeno.

Chumash Territory:  Cities in the SLO Chumash area include San Luis Obispo (county seat), Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande, Santa Margarita, Los Osos, Morro Bay, Cayucos, Atascadero, Paso Robles, Cambria, San Simeon, San Miguel. Other Sites of importance in the SLO Chumash area are the Los Padres National Forest,

Mission San Luis Obispo (Tixlini in Chumash), Cuyama River, Santa Margarita lake, Lopez lake, Wasna Mountain (sacred), Painted Rock (Carrizo Plains area; sacred), Camp Roberts Military Base, Lake Naciamento, and San Miguel Mission. State Parks include Los Osos, Montana de Oro, San Simeon. State

beaches include Pismo, Avila, Cayucos, Morro bay, Morro Strand, Atascadero,William Hearst.

Europeon Explorers:  The earliest European explorers to land in San Luis Obispo County were Pedro de Unamuno in 1587 and Rodriguez Cermeño in 1595. After Sebastián Vizcaíno charted the Central Coast in 1602 and 1603, there were no explorations of the area until 1769, when the overland expedition of Gaspar de Portolá and the Franciscan Father Crespí traveled through the area.  Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, the fifth in California’s chain of missions, was established by Father Junípero Serra on September 1, 1772.  The mission prospered, with an assistancia, or assistant mission rancho established at Santa Margarita in the 1790s. Another granary and chapel were constructed near present-day Avila Beach in 1808. Twenty-five years later, on July 25, 1797, Mission San Miguel Arcángel was founded. This mission also prospered, with ranchos established at San Marcos and El Paso de los Robles.

From Mexican Territory to Early Days of U.S. Statehood (1822-1868):  After California’s annexation to Mexico in 1822, Mexican government officials and retired Army officers, with their eyes on the huge tracts of Mission lands, pushed for secularization of the missions.  As this occurred, the Franciscan priests were forced to leave San Miguel and San Luis Obispo. The churches fell into ruins, but many of the vistas-outbuildings on the mission ranchos-became the quarters for the haciendas of the Mexicans.  During the Rancho Period, nearly 1/2 million acres previously controlled by the two Missions were distributed to Mexican citizens. Hides and tallow from cattle herds established by the Mission padres generated large amounts of money, ushering in a period of unprecedented prosperity, which led to levels of hospitality and fiestas previously unknown.  John C. Fremont took possession of San Luis Obispo for the United States in 1846. When California held its Constitutional Convention in 1850, San Luis Obispo’s delegates were Henry Amos Tefft and Jose Covarrubias. The 1850s saw a shift in California’s economic emphasis from the Spanish-centered cattle ranches in southern and central California to the frenzy of the Gold Rush, which drew people to San Francisco and the Mother Lode country. During these years, San Luis Obispo County fell into a state of isolation and lawlessness. Eventually this led to the 1858 formation of the Committee of Vigilance by Walter Murray and over 140 other citizens. The actions of this Committee were directed at reducing the violence that had plagued the area.

Politics

San Luis Obispo County, as a whole, leans toward the Republican Party in presidential and congressional elections. In 2008, however, Barack Obama won the county with 51.2 percent of the vote. Prior to Obama’s victory, the last Democrat to win a majority in the county was Lyndon Johnson in 1964.

In April 2008, the California Secretary of State reported that there were 147,326 registered voters in San Luis Obispo County. Of those voters, 61,226 (41.6%) were registered Republicans, 52,586 (35.7%) were registered Democratic, 8,030 (5.4%) are registered with other political parties, and 25,484 (17.3%) declined to state a political preference. The cities of Grover Beach, Morro Bay, and San Luis Obispo had pluralities or majorities of registered Democratic voters, whereas the rest of the county’s towns, cities, and the unincorporated areas have a plurality or majority of registered Republican voters.

Economy

San Luis Obispo County’s economy is truly a post-industrial economy. It could be better categorized as a service economy. What the government classifies as “service jobs” account for 38% of the county’s jobs, the true service sector is larger. Government jobs accounts for 20.7% of the County, which is also recognized as a service sector. The presence of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate sector can also be classified as a service sector. Services and Retail combined accounts for 75% of county jobs. Manufacturing jobs now represent less than 6% of the county jobs.

Root Issues:

Provision for our homeless citizens and families- many of our school children do not have appropriate housing.

Gang and Drug Warfare contributing to student drop-out rates due to bullying, and physical/emotional abuse from peer groups.

Land conservation and preservation- our beaches bring in tourism and recreational dollars, but there is great conflict with preservationists.

Preservation of individual freedoms is eroding due to increasing government regulation

WAVE OF THE SPIRIT HITS SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

Doug Addison recently prophesied:

A golden gate is opening in San Francisco!

I have had several dreams over the past couple of months in which I have seen a big wave of the Spirit hitting the San Francisco Bay Area. One of the waves hit Candlestick Park (49ers football stadium). God said that as a result of this new move, San Francisco would become “a candlestick of light for the world to see.” Watch and wait with expectation because God will be releasing new things on a greater level after March 4, 2012.

Golden Gate Opens in San Francisco: Impacts the World

Prophetic Word for San Francisco and the West Coast

December 15, 2011
    Doug Addison

I have had a series of spiritual experiences and prophetic dreams that are all very positive and are intended to bring hope and encouragement. Although this prophetic word is centered on San Francisco and the West Coast, what is about to happen will impact the entire world.

Still in Transition

Don’t be discouraged if you are not hearing God clearly or don’t have a strong direction for what to do next. We are still in a transitional time that will last through the first few months of 2012. This is a time to review any prophetic words and promises that God has given you. Pray for wisdom going into the new year and watch for new opportunities.

New Move of God Coming to San Francisco

On 11/11/11 I had a dream that a strong spiritual wind was blowing from Southern California to the north. In my dream most people were not aware that this time of refreshing was already happening in the spirit. Then without warning, the wind suddenly shifted and began to blow from north to south. The wind of the Spirit was now coming from San Francisco to impact Southern California. End of dream.

This change of wind direction is similar to how the last revival in the U.S. started. In 1971, The Jesus People Movement with Lonnie Frisbee started in San Francisco and moved south to Southern California and then impacted the world.

I have been having a lot of dreams and spiritual experiences regarding a new move of God coming to the West Coast of the U.S. like a huge spiritual wave or wind. It will first impact San Francisco and then the world. From November 17–20 my wife and I were ministering in the San Francisco Bay Area and God gave me the go-ahead to release these prophetic words. This meeting was one my more powerful experiences. Something opened in the Heavens. You can listen to it on my podcast. Click on “Prophetic Word for San Francisco and the West Coast”: http://dougaddison.com/podcast

God showed me that many people have been watching and waiting for God’s judgment against San Francisco. Some have prayed Psalm 56:7 “Because of their wickedness do not let them escape; in your anger, God, bring the nations down.”

But God says that He has indeed found some that have prayed and cried out on behalf of San Francisco and the West Coast. These intercessors have been literally crying and claiming Psalm 56:8–9, “Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll—are they not in your record? Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me.”

Tears in a Bottle

On November 17 when I arrived to the first session of the San Francisco Bay Area meetings, there was a mist falling over the building. I felt the mist was God’s tears being shed over His people in the area. That night I had an open vision of a man weeping over San Francisco. An angel was standing in front of the man capturing his tears in a bottle. When the angel touched the bottle the tears turned into one drop of liquid gold from Heaven. The angel poured the liquid anointing onto San Francisco and the surrounding area.

There have been people crying out to God but the enemy has made them think that God has forgotten their tears. God has not forgotten and there will be a great change happening shortly. What I saw about the tears though centered in San Francisco, it is also happening in other cities around the world.

I was one of those intercessors from 1988–1998 that literally cried over San Francisco. There were times when it seemed hopeless to reach this city that is loved by God. But “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy” Psalm 126:5.

Wave of the Spirit Hits San Francisco Bay Area

A golden gate is opening in San Francisco! I have had several dreams over the past couple of months in which I have seen a big wave of the Spirit hitting the San Francisco Bay Area. One of the waves hit Candlestick Park (49ers football stadium). God said that as a result of this new move, San Francisco would become “a candlestick of light for the world to see.” Watch and wait with expectation because God will be releasing new things on a greater level after March 4, 2012.

Angel is Ready to Dance

I had a spiritual experience at Rosh Hashanah (September 28th) in which I saw an angel that was in position and about to dance. I was shown that when this angel dances it will shake things open and release finances, favor and an anointing to bring people into God’s Kingdom. In the experience, we all waited with anticipation and the angel danced, and the ground shook and golden coins filled the streets. This is symbolic of Kingdom finances that will be needed to impact the world for God. This included the media, high-tech and entertainment industries. In the vision the place I saw the angel standing looked like a combination of San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Hollywood. These are places that have the appearance of evil but God wants to use them to impact the world.

A Sign from Heaven

I am always cautious about giving prophetic words of a larger magnitude as many people have been suffering from prophetic disappointments. Hope deferred can make your heart sick (Proverbs 13:12). So at the end of the San Francisco meetings, I asked God to give us a sign that we would know He is with us (Psalm 86:17). The next day as we drove south on Highway 101 from San Francisco, a bright rainbow literally followed to the left of our car for several hours. Then as we entered King City, CA, it turned into one of the most brilliant full double-rainbows we have ever seen. It was significant that it was a double-rainbow over “King City” as God is making a covenant to bring a double blessing to the Kingdom.

 Angels of Strength and Preparation

On November 27th, I felt the presence of angels in my house but they were different from those normally around me. An angel spoke to me Ephesians 3:16, “I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.”  It was obvious the angels had come to give strength and to prepare for what lies ahead. This is happening to many people everywhere right now. Trust that you are being prepared and strengthened.

Be Prepared and Don’t Get Distracted

I believe that much of what I am seeing from God is very symbolic and the new move coming to the San Francisco area will impact the entire West Coast, Hollywood, and the world. It’s time to cry out for our cities everywhere, asking God to pour out His power and love and to have mercy over judgment. That being said, it is possible that there might be earthquakes but that comes with living on a fault-line. We should all be prepared and have extra food and water on hand no matter where we live. And most of all, do not be afraid.

In many of the experiences I had, there were a great deal of people who had become so distracted with their own life situations that they missed the day of visitation. Do not get distracted away from God’s greater purposes. Ask God to give you “eyes to see” into each situation that happens to you.

God is passionately in love with you and people everywhere.

This truly is an amazing time to be alive. Get ready for things to shake open and take off in 2012.

Blessings,
Doug Addison

Florida Primary – January 31

January 21, 2012

Florida known as the swing state will have its state presidential primary on January 31st please be in prayer for this strategic primary.

Florida Presidential Primary Prayer Guide: January 31

On January 31, 2012, the Florida Republican Presidential Preference Primary will be held. This is an important time for our nation as Florida’s voice is heard in the political arena. Let’s rise up together in prayer and action to shape the history of our nation through prayer, worship, fasting and activism.

Florida is the first large state to hold its primary. With an estimated population of nineteen million, Florida takes fourth place in size after California, Texas and New York. Over half-a-million citizens are Jewish. Close to six million residents are Christian or Roman Catholic. (2010 U.S. Census) Historically, the state’s influence can be seen in the 2008 Florida Republican Primary where winner Senator John McCain went on to receive the Republican Party nomination to run for President. The same is true for former President George W. Bush during the 2000 election year.

What to Pray

• Pray for the church of Florida to rise up as a righteous voice. Call forth those who have been ignorant of the election process to awaken to the state of our nation. Ask the Lord to activate the church to pray and vote to shift our nation.

• Pray for our leaders: 1 Timothy 2:1-3 – “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.”

• Ask the Lord to reveal His righteous leaders for our nation and our state that will promote Biblical principles and stand with Israel. Declare that God’s Eliakim for this hour will come forth (Isaiah 22).

• Pray for the election workers, that they will work with integrity and honesty as they perform their tasks from January 21 – January 31 (early voting opens on January 21)

Get Involved
